Naturopaths in Edmonton West Central

We have 4 experienced Naturopathic Doctors on staff

Why chose TruMed?

Experience: Our Edmonton Naturopathic Doctors have extensive experience treating many common health concerns including Fatigue, Hypothyroidism, Adrenal Issues, Digestive concerns, as well as Skin and Mood concerns.

Precision: The Naturopaths at TruMed always rely on testing to guide our Alternative treatments. We provide Edmonton Thyroid, Hormone, Allergy, Nutrient Testing as well as Heavy Metal, Mold, Infectious and Toxicant testing.

Evidence-based: At TruMed our Naturopathic Doctors always prioritize the used of evidence based alternative treatments with substantial human data from clinical trials, studies and case reports in addition to traditional Naturopathic treatments.

Functional Medicine: TruMed's Naturopathic Doctors rely on functional medicine principles to understand the root of your concerns. We understand that a medical concern may have numerous etiologies that are person specific.

Digestive Health

Digestive treatments is a cornerstone of our Naturopathic practice.

TruMed's Naturopaths focus on giving Edmonton precise testing to determine exactly where your digestive issues originate.

SIBO Testing, Stool & Candida Testing and Food Sensitivity Testing help us solve even the most elusive cases of IBS, Constipation, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Bloating, Gas and Reflux.

SIBO testing is commonly used in cases where there is extreme gas, bloating and either diarrhea or constipation. Our Naturopaths will measure if you have an excess of hydrogen or methane gas production and will give treatments to restore proper bacterial balance.

Food sensitivity testing is hands down the most common test our Naturopathic Doctors run for digestive issues.

We've literally seen thousands of our Edmonton patients benefit from understanding what foods they are allergic or sensitive to.

Stool cultures and Comprehensive stool analysis tests (CDSA) is great for understanding colonic bacterial and yeast (and even parasite) load. These tests can also give our Naturopaths a bit of insight on small intestinal function as well.

Our Naturopathic Doctors have also had success with Crohn's & Ulcerative Colitis - we often suggest IV Therapy to restore nutrient levels in addition to dietary changes and supplements to mitigate the disease process.

Our Naturopaths also occasionally treat ulcers, h.pylori, parasites and nausea in our Edmonton patients.

Fatigue & Low Energy

We love treating fatigue.

TruMed's Naturopaths have a strong foundation in hormones and nutrition as a starting point to find out exactly why you are tired.

We almost always run Thyroid and Adrenal Testing in almost all of our patients which is almost always neglected in our Edmonton patients. Our Naturopathic Doctors see a ton of Adrenal Fatigue in our Edmonton patients as well as Hypothyroidism.

Our Naturopathic Doctors also run advanced Nutritional, Heavy Metal and even infectious testing (yeast and viruses) to find all possible causes of fatigue.

With regards to nutrient levels our Naturopathic Doctors frequently run urinary iodine testing in our Edmonton patients as we commonly see low levels of iodine in Alberta. Suboptimal Magnesium & B12 levels are also common reasons for fatigue in our Edmonton patients.

Interestingly, once basic hormones and nutrients have been ruled out our Naturopaths have seen numerous cases of chronic viral infections causing issues in primarily young patients. Although less common, our Naturopathic Doctors have most frequently seen Epstein Barr and HHV-6 as the offending agents.

Occasionally we'll find toxic load to be a cause of fatigue - our Naturopathic Doctors may assess heavy metal status - mercury toxicity is thought to cause fatigue in select patients.

We find IV Therapy an amazing treatment for Fatigue.

Nutritional deficiencies are a common cause of fatigue and we able to rapidly relieve stubborn cases with IV nutrients.

We are also able to restore mitochondrial function with therapies like IV NAD.

Hormone Imbalances

At TruMed our Naturopaths take hormones seriously.

We offer all available methods for testing hormones - blood, urine and saliva and we have tons of experience in a large range of hormonal conditions: PMS, Menopause, Heavy Cycles, Acne, Endometriosis, PCOS, Low Libido and so many more are extremely commonly seen.

For female concerns such as PMS, Heavy Cycles, Menstrual Migraines or Acne our Naturopaths can use either salivary or urinary hormone testing, with a preference for salivary testing as we have used this method for many years and have seen it be effective and relatively low cost.

Concerns where male hormones are suspected (acne, hair loss, hair growth), our Naturopathic Doctors may elect for DUTCH urinary hormone testing which gives an amazing analysis of male hormones and their metabolites.

DUTCH testing gives amazing insight but can be cost prohibitive (often costing anywhere from $400-$650). Urinary measurements reflect the bioavailable amount of hormone in most cases as it is only the free, nonprotein-bound fraction in blood/tissue that is available for phase II metabolism (glucuronidation and sulfation) and subsequent urine excretion.

Our Naturopathic Doctors may also use blood based testing as it is reported rapidly and is good for getting the "general picture" with regards to your hormone health. Blood allows for measurement of certain hormonal signals (eg. LH, FSH, TSH) that are not available through urine or saliva. Blood is pretty much the only was to accurately measure Thyroid parameters.

Ultimately, our Naturopathic Doctors use numerous testing techniques to stop the guessing game!

Our Naturopaths are trained in many hormone testing techniques to find out what your body needs to achieve balance.

We have close relationships with prescribing professionals to make sure that even the strongest therapies like bio-identical hormones and desiccated thyroid are available for even the trickiest cases.

However, our Naturopaths always start with gentle natural balancing therapies like Vitamins, Herbs and occasionally homeopathic to restore harmony to your hormones.

Mood Concerns

We've got options when it comes to your mood.

We do two things that really sets our Naturopaths apart in Edmonton at TruMed when it comes to treating mood issues like anxiety and depression.

First, our Naturopathic Doctors always run in-depth hormone testing on all of our Edmonton mood  and mental health patients. We have seen time and time again that things like low thyroid or low testosterone plays a huge role in many mental health patients that is overlooked far too often.

Our Naturopaths are always looking for the cause of your Mood concerns.

Second, our Naturopathic Doctors offer IV therapy for our Edmonton mood patients. Providing key amino acids and methyl-donating B-vitamins directly into the blood can turn a mental health case around extremely rapidly and we take pride in that.

By directly infusing these nutrients into the blood we can elevate brain levels much more rapidly and robustly than is possible with oral administration of the same nutrients.

If needed our Naturopaths may suggest neurotransmitter testing if we want to figure out exactly what neurotransmitters your body needs help with (Serotonin, Dopamine, GABA, Glycine, PEA etc) - this is helpful in cases that don't respond to standard interventions already mentioned or if it appears that the issues are deeper than serotonin and dopamine.

Our Naturopaths work with numerous preparations to improve mood and mental health.

We use herbs, vitamins, minerals and amino acids to impact anxiety, and lift mood.

Our Naturopaths occasionally deal with other mental health concerns such as Bi-polar, Schizophrenia and OCD. We have additional training on how to safely combine natural agents with numerous standard mood treatments like anti-depressants.

Skin Health

Your skin is important to us.

Our Naturopaths have a ton of experience with lots of common skin concerns in our Edmonton clients. We have treated a lot of acne, eczema, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, hives and rashes, hair loss and more.

For instance, in acne cases our Naturopaths usually run hormone and allergy testing to see if an excess of hormones or food reactions are contributing to your skin woes. If the acne occurs primarily premenstrual our Naturopaths will elect for urinary or salivary estrogen and progesterone testing.

If the acne is stable through the month, we may run food sensitivity or male hormone testing (preferably though Urine - for the male hormone 5-alpha metabolites).

Running urinary testing can also be helpful for male pattern hair loss (in both men and women) in addition to Thyroid testing - one common manifestation of hypothyroidism is hair loss.

Food sensitivity testing actually has some relevance for hair loss as cross reactions are thought to be possible between gluten and hair follicles.

In eczema, hives and psoriasis, we run comprehensive food testing and may also use histamine analysis to find out where your inflammation originates.

Common trigger foods include wheat, dairy, and eggs.

Histamine testing is done electrodermally by one of our Naturopathic Doctors (Dr. Sumar) we often find low Iodine or Copper as a major contributor to histamine over production in our Edmonton patients.

In the last few years it has become popular to use IV Glutathione for skin complexion concerns. Our Naturopaths can administer both glutathione and vitamin C for cosmetic purposes in our Edmonton patients.

Pediatrics

Our Naturopaths treat kids!

All four of our Naturopathic Doctors can work with children however Dr. Deol and Dr. Sumar have practices more focused on Naturopathic Pediatrics.

Most commonly our Naturopaths see children in Edmonton with skin and digestive concerns and often times simple dietary manipulation or food sensitivity testing can be extremely helpful in many cases.

Concerns like ADD & ADHD are also addressed though diet, however, our Naturopaths often work with essential fatty acids and key nutrients like zinc, iron, B6 and Magnesium which are historically low in these populations as well.

Dr. Deol does additional work with Autism and autism spectrum disorders - Naturopathic medicine looks at organic acid imbalances as well as gut flora (yeast, clostridia often) and toxicities which can be extremely helpful to improve communication and social interaction, repetitive and restricted behaviors.

Injections of methylfolate and methylB12 can also be helpful in addition to discovery of food sensitivities as it is common to suggest dairy and gluten free in these patient populations as part of a comprehensive Naturopathic treatment plan.

Dr. Sumar's use of electrodermal analysis in her Naturopathic practice is an amazing tool in pediatric concerns.

Electrodermal is a rapid and non-invasive way to quantify infections, histamine and nutrient levels.

Dr. Sumar has had success treating pediatric allergic concerns with electrodermal testing (also called "VEGA" testing) as well as digestive concerns, bed wetting, insomnia and anxiety in our Edmonton pediatric patients.

Fertility

Dr. Deol knows Fertility.

Fertility is certainly a concern our Naturopaths take seriously as it dovetails nicely with the hormonal focus we have at our clinic.

Although all Naturopaths at TruMed can deal with concerns of both male and female infertility, Dr. Deol in particular focuses heavily on Fertility.

We use a combination of blood, urine and salivary hormone testing to get a complete picture of your hormone health.

We find blood testing of particular importance for measurement of Thyroid function - as Hypothyroidism is a reversible cause in infertility and is certainly a common issue our Naturopathic Doctors see in our Edmonton patients.

Blood testing can also give us standard fertility measures such as LH & FSH and some nutritional parameters as well however we may do what's called an RBC elements test to measure levels of key fertility nutrients like selenium and zinc.

Urinary testing for Iodine is a bit of a secret weapon in our Naturopathic fertility workups as iodine deficiency is rampant in Alberta and iodine concentrates heavily in the ovaries - low iodine levels can seriously reduce chances of conception.

Salivary or Urinary hormone testing is excellent for looking at levels of Bio-available hormones involved in both male and female fertility. Urine hormone testing has the added advantage of giving a deep dive into female hormone metabolites which is welcome in cases of infertility to add additional data.

With regards to treatment our Naturopathic Doctors often suggest acupuncture and IV Therapy to maximize chances of conception.

IV Therapy can rapidly increase nutrient levels and give direct infusions of glutathione (the body's strongest anti-oxidant) & NAD+ to improve both egg quality.

Acupuncture is done primarily by Dr. Deol to improve uterine blood flow and also regulate menstrual cycles - it can be done in conjunction with IVF to improve successful implantation.

Autoimmune Concerns

Experienced with Autoimmunity.

Because of Dr. Muradov's experience with Multiple Sclerosis our Naturopathic Doctors can deal additionally with other autoimmune diseases.

Autoimmunity is extremely challenging and often unpredictable however using basic functional medicine principles our Naturopaths have had success improving many autoimmune conditions in our Edmonton patients.

Our Naturopaths most commonly see: MS, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Hashimoto's, Graves', RA, Psoriasis and Lupus.

In keeping with Functional medicine our Naturopaths often start at the level of the gut for many autoimmune conditions.

Food sensitivity testing, Stool testing and Stool PCR are common areas we may begin with in addition to gut healing protocols. Individualized diets based off of unique sensitivity test results as well as diets such as AIP.

Next our Naturopathic Doctors often consider toxicities (mold, metals and environmental toxicities) as well as infections (bacterial, viral, fungal and spirochete) as possible immunological triggers.

We may perform heavy metal testing, mold testing as well as infectious testing (IgM/IgG or EliSpot) to confirm infections in our Edmonton autoimmune patients.

About the Naturopaths at TruMed Edmonton

More about Naturopaths

Choosing the best Naturopath in Edmonton for you

Edmonton has its fair share of Naturopaths.

TruMed has 4 Naturopaths on staff.

Use this guide to help you find the Naturopath in Edmonton that fits you best.

1) Find the right focus. Although all Naturopaths in Edmonton & Alberta have undergone similar training at Naturopathic medical school, the training that they continue and the areas they focus on after graduating differ greatly.

For instance, some Naturopaths focus just on kids or just on Cancer! So you probably don't want to visit one of those Naturopaths if you're experiencing digestive concerns.

Make sure you research the Naturopath you want to visit and make sure they deal or have dealt with your particular concerns.

So, if you want to visit someone at TruMed, we do really well with Thyroid, Hormone Concerns and Digestive concerns in our Edmonton patients and our Naturopathic Doctors do a lot of IV Therapy.

So, if you have those, or a conditions that responds well to IV Therapy, we can probably help you really well.

Of course, you may want to inquire how much experience that have with a given concern as well. Just because a Naturopathic Doctor focuses in an area doesn't mean that they have treated a lot of that concern so you may want to ask reception or even the Naturopathic Doctor if they have a lot of experience with your particular concerns.

2) Know the costs. All Naturopaths in Edmonton have out of pocket costs for visits because we are not covered by Alberta health so be prepared. In general, expect to pay around $200 for your first visit and anywhere from $80-$150 on average for follow up visits for seeing a Naturopath in the Edmonton area.

Testing is another area that you need to know about. Testing gets pricey. Hormone testing, Allergy testing and Thyroid testing can add up starting at a couple of hundred dollars to well over a thousand dollars, so plan ahead and ask your prospective Naturopath's office about these type of fees.

Check your benefits! Lots of benefits are starting to cover test costs which can greatly reduce your out of pocket Naturopath costs. For instance, for many hormonal concerns our Naturopaths run Urinary "DUTCH" hormone testing - the upper end DUTCH test is $650!

Lastly, supplements and treatments add significantly to costs. Most Naturopaths in Edmonton will suggest you take supplements. Sometimes it can be a bottle or two, whereas in other situations it can be upwards of 10!! Luckily some newer insurance benefits are starting to cover supplements but this is not common! Expect to pay out of pocket.

IV Therapy is amazing as well but can also be pricey - IV Treatments from Naturopaths on average are about $150 in the Edmonton area.

3) Be patient. Every Naturopath in Edmonton wants you to get better! But sometimes it takes time for treatments to work and it might be a month or two before you start to feel a lot better.

Sometimes they don't work as intended and you and your Naturopath need to switch things up.

At TruMed we like to have patients well on their way within 6 weeks of their first visit, and try to get cases under control with 3-4 visits. That's another reason we use a lot of IV therapy at TruMed Clinic because the results are really quick.

Naturopath FAQ

What is a Naturopath?

A Naturopath refers specifically to a Naturopathic Doctor; these are both protected titles in Alberta. All Edmonton Naturopaths are registered with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta. In order to register with this provincial college, a Naturopathic Doctor has had to have gone to an accredited Naturopathic College or University in addition to an undergraduate education and passed the international licensing exams known as NPLEX.

Naturopath education merges standard western diagnosis and treatment with natural approaches to health such as herbs, dietary changes, vitamin and mineral treatments and homeopathy and chinese medicine.

Naturopathic Doctors are not "MD" medical Doctors; they have a 'ND' designation. Dr Muradov, the medical director of TruMed Naturopathic Clinic is a fully registered Naturopathic Doctor in Edmonton.

Ultimately, the Naturopathic approach is dramatically different from the approach you've experienced with your medical Doctors - Naturopathic Doctors take their time during consultations so visits are anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

On a fundamental level, your Naturopathic Doctor will most often suggest therapies and investigations that focus on the etiology of your concerns whereas often times suggested therapies from a medical Doctor focus on symptom suppression.

For more information about Naturopaths in general visit the AANP Website (American Naturopaths).

What services do Naturopaths provide?

The scope of services that Naturopathic Doctors in Edmonton can offer is a very large range of therapies.

Dr. Muradov has chosen to keep the focus of TruMed on Advanced diagnostic and treatment services. In Edmonton, TruMed uses leading edge blood, salivary, and urinary hormone and allergy testing to pinpoint precisely where concerns originate.

We do a lot of blood testing to tease our basic parameters like nutrients, thyroid hormone and signaling peptides. Our Naturopathic Doctors like blood work because its the cheapest methodology, the results are reported rapidly and it's easy to communicate those results to other healthcare practitioners.

Saliva testing has been a Naturopathic gold standard for over 25 years. Our clinic has heavily relied on saliva testing and our Naturopaths have seen it as a reliable test methodology for many common concerns and the clinical utility is high as saliva looks at the bio-available hormone fractions.

Urinary hormone testing is newer on the scene which also looks at free hormone fractions and our Naturopathic Doctors suggest it selectively because although it gives massive insight into hormones and their metabolites, it is costly and slow (upwards of 4 weeks for reports!) but it can provide meaningful data when saliva and blood are not able to.

Our Naturopaths also do a ton of Vitamin IV Therapy for our Edmonton patients which is a modern way to deliver precise quantities of natural substances like Vitamins and Minerals directly into the blood.

It's how our Naturopathic Doctors get our patients rapid results in a range of conditions.

For more information on Naturopaths in Canada visit the CAND National Naturopath website.

Who is the best Naturopath in Edmonton?

Edmonton certainly has talented Naturopathic Doctors; some of the best Naturopaths available. At TruMed we focus on doing our best work with digestive concerns, fatigue, mood issues, hormonal issues and skin concerns.

Dr. Muradov has a special focus in MS and Cancer.

Dr. Sumar focuses her Naturopathic practice on allergic concerns.

Dr. Deol does Fertility and Pediatrics as special interests.

Dr. Tran focuses on Prolotherapy & Pain.

Our Naturopath clinic has been chosen as one of the top three best Naturopath clinics in Edmonton.

Furthermore, Dr. Muradov some of the best Naturopath reviews on ratemds.com and Google reviews.

Dr. Muradov was Best Naturopath Edmonton 2017 as Voted by Vue Weekly.

What does a Naturopath do?

Naturopathic Doctors in Edmonton have a broad range of capabilities.

Training in Homeopathy, Botanical Medicine, IV Therapy, Functional Medicine, Orthomolecular Medicine, Physical Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine means you can get a lot of different treatments from Naturopath to Naturopath.

This effectively means that if a Naturopathic Doctor you've visited previously was unable to help you, that seeing a different Naturopath could help you because approach differs greatly between Naturopathic Doctors.

Even at TruMed Dr. Muradov and Dr. Sumar approach care in different ways. Dr. Muradov focuses on blood, urine and salivary testing whereas Dr. Sumar uses electrodermal analysis as part of her Naturopathic practice.

The Naturopathic Doctors at TruMed do minimal Homeopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

We take a more western, modern Naturopathic approach to patient care.

We often attempt to treat the cause of one's concerns with gentle yet effective natural treatments - that's the Functional Medicine approach we take.

At TruMed, our Naturopathic Doctors focus on evidence based Functional Medicine with heavy emphasis on herbs, vitamins and dietary changes and base our treatments on the results of hormone testing and food allergy testing and nutritional testing at our Edmonton clinic. The heavy emphasis on testing at our clinic is to reduce the guess work and find the cause of your concerns.

Unfortunately, we've heard from many patients that have visited our office after seeing another Naturopathic Doctor that they felt their previous practitioner was "guessing."

Our Naturopaths do away with the guesswork with a range of Functional Medicine testing techniques.

What training do Naturopaths have?

Naturopaths have a solid education.

A licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) attends a four-year, graduate-level Naturopathic medical school and is educated in most of the same basic sciences as medical Doctor. In addition to a standard medical curriculum (western medicine), a Naturopath also studies Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathic medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Botanical Medicine and Psychology.

This training is done after  undergraduate training and pre-medical requisites have been completed. All three Naturopathic Doctors at TruMed have completed their Naturopathic Doctorates in Toronto at CCNM.

A Naturopathic Doctor takes rigorous professional board exams so that he or she may be licensed.

In order for Naturopath to practice in Edmonton, they must pass the NPLEX board exams and be licensed by the CNDA (College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta). NPLEX is two sets of vigorous exams taken after second year and fourth year of Naturopathic college. These exams each take months to study for as they are extremely comprehensive.

In Edmonton and Alberta, there are particular restricted activities that Naturopathic Doctors can do, but they must take additional training and apply for them separately. At TruMed the Naturopathic Doctors have authorization for restricted activity in Hyperbaric medicine, IV Therapy and Acupuncture.

Is Dr Muradov a homeopath?

No. Thank goodness. Because that would be boring.

Occasionally we use homeopathic medicines at our Edmonton Naturopath Clinic but Dr. Muradov is a Naturopathic Doctor which means the training is typically more intensive and expansive.

Homeopathy and Naturopathic medicine are often confused. Homeopathy uses dilutions of substances to cure disease. Our Naturopaths have found that Homeopathy can often have a low "hit rate" and that we have better results with standard western Naturopathic medicines such as herbs and vitamins.

The Naturopathic Principles:

Healing Power of Nature

Naturopathic Doctors believe that the body has an innate knowledge on how it can heal itself if given the right substances - so your Naturopath at TruMed will give you the nutrients, herbs and dietary changes you need to heal your body and restore its natural balance.

Treat the cause

The reason you see testing all over this website is that our Naturopaths run comprehensive testing to understand where your health issues originate so we can directly address the causes of your concerns.

Treat the whole person

Our Naturopaths recognize all aspects of your health including nutritional status, diet, hormones, lifestyle, family history, physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors to figure out where your concerns uniquely originate.

Do no harm

The Naturopathic Doctors at TruMed take care to use gentle yet effective natural substances to minimize negative impact of any of the therapies we suggest for our Edmonton patients.

Edmonton Naturopath FAQ continued

Do you have direct billing?

Yes, please bring your proof of insurance to your visits.

We can direct bill: Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plans, Cowan Insurance Group, Desjardins Insurance, Great-West Life, Industrial Alliance, Johnston Group, Manulife, Maximum Benefit, Standard Life, Sun Life Financial and Blue Cross through Telus eClaims.

We started offering direct billing at our Edmonton clinic to reduce out of pocket costs when you visit one of our Naturopath Doctors.

Most of our patients get at least partial coverage for their Naturopath visits, and in many cases full coverage.

We also see patients that have a specific allocation for testing to help with some of the test costs and in some cases all of the costs. If budgeting is important to you, we'd suggest speaking with your insurance company before visiting one of our Naturopathic Doctors.

How long does it take to see one of the Naturopaths?

Generally, it can take 2-3 weeks to see one of our Naturopaths at our Edmonton office. We recommend asking for cancellations when you are booking if you need to see someone sooner.

Your Naturopath may recommend testing - in some cases test results take up to 4 weeks (allergy testing or Urinary hormone testing) so it can take some time to gather the right data for your case so a bit of patience is key!

Initial Naturopath consultations are usually 30-60 minutes. However, Cancer, MS or Fertility consults with our Naturopaths are 60-90 minutes at our Edmonton clinic.

Please make sure you bring a list of your existing medications, herbs and supplements. For Dr. Sumar she needs the physical substances as part of her testing (just bring it all with you).

Where is TruMed located? Is it near me?

Our Naturopath clinic is located in central Edmonton at 11630 119 street - which means Naturopaths and IV Therapy Near You!!

This central location was chosen to accommodate North East and West Edmonton and Central Edmonton patients easily and South somewhat easily.

Do I have to come back to the clinic often?

No. We understand that Naturopathic medicine can be expensive so our Naturopaths try and complete our case work between 2-4 visits which are usually spaced out by 1 to 3 months.

However, if your Naturopathic Doctor recommends IV Therapy, that usually requires more frequent visits as IV Therapy is typically done weekly at the beginning of a treatment protocol.

How much does it cost to see a Naturopath?

There is a bit of variation in Edmonton regarding prices from Naturopath to Naturopath. At TruMed our initial consultation fee is $265 with follow up visits $165.

As mentioned above, visits at the clinic are usually spaced 1 to 3 months apart. With regards to IV Therapy, costs range from $125 to $200 on average but are usually around $150 for a standard vitamin mineral IV Therapy.

If you are doing IVs, you just pay for IV Therapy, that is, there are no additional Naturopath consult costs associated with the IV.

Testing and supplement costs can cost more than the Naturopathic consultations. Hormone testing can range anywhere from $90 - $650 depending on how comprehensive your Naturopathic Doctor chooses to be.

Sensitivity and Allergy Testing can cost anywhere from $365 to $665 for our most common tests.

Can you access my medical records?

We are no longer able to retrieve all blood work done in the Edmonton area prior to your first visit. Please bring previous blood work with you or we may access it via a pre-existing account on My Health Alberta.

Your Naturopathic Doctor at TruMed will review all available blood work in your first visit. If you have copies of anything you want us to look at make sure you bring it to your initial consultation or take pictures and email them over.

Why do your Naturopaths offer IV therapy?

Because it's the best! But not everyone is a candidate for IV Vitamin therapy. We usually use it in cases of Fatigue, Mood issues and to improve immunity to achieve rapid results. We also do a number of IV treatments for various Cancers.

Your TruMed Naturopath will help you choose the best testing for your specific health concerns.

IV Therapy is most frequently offered to those patients that have not had their breakthrough with standard oral interventions or if our Naturopaths know that IV treatment if the best treatment for your particular health concern.

Your Naturopathic Doctor at TruMed will modify one of our base IV formulas to meet your particular needs.

What makes your testing different?

Generally, our Naturopaths offer deeper testing than what is available in Edmonton through Alberta health with regards to hormone, thyroid and digestive analysis.

Our Naturopathic Doctors work with a number of Accrediated US laboratories and often send samples for analysis abroad.

We offer all available test methods for hormone testing (blood, urine, saliva) as well as allergy & sensitivity testing (IgG4/IgE, Total IgG & Isolated IgE Testing). Dr.Sumar also offers electrodermal analysis as part of her Naturopathic practice also known as Vega Testing for our Edmonton patients.

Your Naturopathic Doctor at TruMed will use his or her clinical judgement to choose the right mix of testing for your concerns - we tend to balance what we feel is best in your case versus the costs needed to do the tests.

Often times for regular blood work, your Naturopath may give you a list of tests to take to your medical Doctor to have the tests covered through Alberta health to reserve private funds for tests that are simply not available in Edmonton through Alberta health.

What is the difference between a Naturopath and Naturopathic Doctor?

In Edmonton and Alberta, Naturopath and Naturopathic Doctor are both protected titles reserved for licensed members of the College of Naturopathic Doctors "CNDA". So it's basically the same name.

What can I expect in my first Naturopath consult?

One  of our Naturopathic Doctors will carefully go through your case, review past blood work and lab tests and will probably send you for comprehensive testing (Thyroid, Hormone and Food Allergy Testing).

We usually schedule follow ups about a month later to review your test results and set up a treatment plan using only the best in Naturopathic and Functional medicines and specific dietary changes.

Your initial Naturopathic consultation will be definitely different from anything you've had with a medical Doctor - it will be longer, in more depth and address many areas to understand your concerns and where they originate.
