Hyperbaric Research

HBO has a long history of research for many conditions

We've summarized some of the medical research for Hyperbaric Therapy

Chronic concussion, stroke and long covid are top conditions treated in 2025

Autoimmune:

Hyperbaric Oxygen has shown benefit in a range of autoimmune diseases.

According to Butler (2009) HBO has suppressive effects on pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Including decreased production CD4 cells (TH1/TH17) and increased percentage of CD8 cells (Al-Waili et al. 2006).

MS:

Significant data exists for the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen in MS.

For instance, Oriani et al (1990) studied 44 MS patients with Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers.

In the Hyperbaric group, 14/22 MS patients reported benefits vs. 2/22 in the Hyperbaric air group.

Dr. Muradov has extensive experience treating MS with Naturopathic medicine.

Psoriasis:

Butler (2009) showed good results using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in two patients.

A 40-year-old man with full body psoriasis - eight sessions resulted in significant amelioration.

A 55-year-old man with extensive psoriasis had significant improvement after 15 sessions.

Our Naturopathic doctors have significant experience treating Psoriasis in our Edmonton clinic.

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Rui-Chang (1994) used Hyperbaric Chambers in 37 patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Relief of pain and swelling with improved mobility was seen.

24.3 % recovered completely, 51.4 % improved markedly.

Our Naturopaths also use foods as the foundation for RA treatment in our Edmonton patients.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease:

Dulai 2014 conducted a systematic review of the effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in IBD.

Based on 17 studies involving 613 patients.

The overall response rate using was 86% in Crohn’s disease and 88% in Ulcerative Colitis.

Naturopathic medicine once again uses food allergy identification as a base treatment in IBD.

Neurological Disease:

The most important effects of Hyperbaric Oxygen are on the brain.

The brain consumes 20% of the body's oxygen despite being only 2% of the body's weight.

Mechanisms include enhanced circulation, as well as Stem Cell mobilization.

Vascular Dementia:

Xu 2019 looked at 158 patients with Vascular Dementia.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy was given 5 days per week, for 12 weeks.

After treatment, compared with the control group, the MMSE scores were significantly increased.

Our Naturopathic doctors have used Vinpocetine for vascular dementia in our Edmonton patients.

Stroke:

Much research has been conducted on the positive effects of HBO for chronic stroke.

Neubauer and End (1980) - 65% reported an improvement in the quality of life (up to 9 years after).

Efrati et al. (2013) - significant neurological improvements were seen in chronic stroke (up to 3 years after)

Both studies suggest that partial restoration of brain function can still be activated long after the initial insult.

Hyperbaric Oxygen is the main treatment we use for Stroke at our Edmonton office.

Lyme:

Texas A&M University Pilot Program - treated patients with "post-Lyme disease syndrome" (PLDS) with HBO.

Chronic Lyme patients underwent up to 40 1 hour Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy sessions.

Improvement or resolution of Chronic Lyme neurological symptoms was observed in 37 of 38 subjects.

The effect was sustained in approximately 70 % of subjects for up to 6 years.

We do offer Edmonton IV Therapy that can be helpful for healing from Chronic Lyme.

TBI:

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS) has been extensively studied with HBO.

Harch et al. 2012 treated 16 patients with mild to moderate TBI and PCS.

Each patient received 40, 60 minute Hyperbaric Chamber sessions.

80% of patients reported improvement in a majority of their mTBI symptoms after Hyperbaric treatment.

Our Naturopaths have seen great results using IV Therapy for mTBI & PCS.

Athletics:

Relevant HBO mechanisms: reduction of edema, stimulation of collagen and stem cell release.

Ishii et al (1999) looked at 22 athletes with various injuries and Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment.

Chamber pressures used between 1.3 and 2.0 ATA, with dives from 30 to 90 minutes.

More than 70% of the patients experienced improvement after Hyperbaric treatment.

For sports injury, our Naturopathic doctors often focus on oral enzymes, and IV Therapy

Hyperbaric & Athletes

6 athletes

Remarkably improved

Symptoms subsided in 3 days

11 athletes

Moderately improved

Symptoms subsided in 1-2 weeks.

5 athletes

Unchanged

Symptoms unchanged after HBO.

Cancer

Hyperbaric oxygen is well known in the management of radionecrosis (tissue damage from radiation).

HBO is thought to synergize with numerous alternative cancer IV therapies.

The synergy is through oxidative or metabolic actions respectively.

Poff and D’Agostino (2013) used a mouse model of metastatic cancer with Ketogenic diet and HBO.

Combining the Ketogenic diet and HBO elicited a decrease in tumor growth rate and increase in survival time.

Top Hyperbaric Oxygen Questions

How often are Hyperbaric Chamber treatments given?

For most conditions, Hyperbaric treatments are once a day - usually Monday through Friday.

Treatments range anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes but most commonly 60-90 minutes.

The length and frequency of treatments and Hyperbaric Chamber pressure will be individualized for you.

What will I feel in the Hyperbaric Chamber?

As the chamber pressurizes you will feel a fullness in your ears as your eardrums adjust.

You will definitely have to "crack" your ears to balance the pressure.

The temperature tends to increase as pressurization occurs and cools as depressurization occurs.

How soon can someone start to feel better from HBOT?

This depends on the condition being treated - sometimes benefits happen almost immediately.

For chronic neurological conditions, oftentimes 20 to 40 treatments are needed.

The Definitive Guide to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in Edmonton

Clinical Mechanisms, Advanced Indications, and Integrative Naturopathic Medicine Protocols

As interest in advanced restorative and regenerative medicine continues to expand across Alberta, patients looking for evidence-based recovery options are increasingly seeking out hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton. Operating as a premier destination for functional medicine, the clinical framework at hyperbarictreatment.ca combines advanced, medical-grade hyperbaric technology with integrative therapies to offer deep cellular healing.

Whether recovering from a traumatic injury, managing a complex neurological condition, or seeking to address chronic systemic inflammation, understanding how clinical-grade hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton work is the first step toward reclaiming your long-term vitality.

1. The Science of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: How Atmospheric Pressure Changes Cellular Biology

At regular sea-level atmospheric pressure (defined as 1 Atmosphere Absolute, or 1 ATA), human respiration operates within strict physiological boundaries. When you breathe normal air, your red blood cells carry nearly 98% of the oxygen bound to a protein called hemoglobin. Under these baseline conditions, inhaling additional oxygen provides very little extra benefit, because your hemoglobin is already almost entirely saturated.

Henry's Law and Plasma Saturation

Clinical hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton breaks through this physiological bottleneck by altering the physical environment. When a patient enters a certified hyperbaric chamber, two distinct variables change: the ambient atmospheric pressure is significantly increased (typically between 1.5 ATA and 2.4+ ATA), and the patient breathes 100% pure medical-grade oxygen.

This clinical setup operates based on Henry’s Law of gas solubility, which dictates that the amount of a specific gas dissolved within a liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas. By placing the body under higher atmospheric pressure inside advanced hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton, oxygen bypasses the physical limitations of red blood cells and dissolves directly into the blood plasma.

This process triggers a 10- to 15-fold increase in blood oxygen levels, flooding the extracellular fluids, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and deep tissues with life-giving oxygen.

Primary Physiological Benefits of HBOT

  • Deep Tissue Hyperoxygenation: Heavily oxygenated plasma easily bypasses constricted blood vessels, scar tissue, and swollen areas where larger red blood cells are physically blocked from passing. This delivers immediate metabolic support to oxygen-starved, dormant cells.

  • Edema Mitigation & Vasoconstriction: High-pressure oxygen causes blood vessels to narrow slightly (vasoconstriction). This action significantly reduces tissue swelling and fluid retention (edema) without reducing oxygen delivery, because the plasma remains highly saturated.

  • Fibroblast Proliferation & Collagen Synthesis: Elevated cellular oxygen levels act as a chemical trigger for fibroblasts, the specialized cells responsible for producing collagen. This speeds up structural tissue repair, making it highly effective for wound healing.

  • Neovascularization & Permanent Angiogenesis: Extended, consistent hyperbaric treatment protocols stimulate the body to grow brand-new capillary networks into damaged, oxygen-depleted areas. This delivers lasting improvements to localized blood circulation even after the treatment regimen is complete.

  • Endogenous Stem Cell Mobilization: Studies show that undergoing high-pressure oxygen treatments inside specialized chambers causes a dramatic surge in the release of natural stem cells from bone marrow, helping them travel directly to areas of injury or degeneration.

2. Comprehensive Clinical Indications: Who Benefits from Hyperbaric Chambers in Edmonton?

The advanced medical protocols utilized at hyperbarictreatment.ca span a wide range of health challenges. The clinic categorizes its treatment focus into internationally recognized medical standards and thoroughly researched, investigated indications—with a particular focus on complex neurological care.

Neurological Recovery, Brain Performance, and TBI

The human brain is an incredibly resource-intensive organ. While it accounts for only about 2% of total body weight, it consumes roughly 20% of the body's total oxygen supply. This makes brain cells exceptionally sensitive to any drop in oxygen.

  • Stroke Rehabilitation and Ischemic Recovery: Following an ischemic event (a stroke), a core area of brain tissue is lost, surrounded by a delicate border known as the ischemic penumbra. These surrounding cells are injured, metabolically inactive, and non-functional, but they are still alive. High-pressure oxygen therapy helps revive these dormant neurons by restoring mitochondrial energy production, reducing localized brain swelling, and driving oxygen across the blood-brain barrier. Clinical assessments show that structured hyperbaric protocols lead to noticeable improvements in cognitive scores (such as the Mini-Mental State Examination) and functional independence for post-stroke patients.
Stroke is one indication we'd love to treat in our Edmonton patients with hyperbaric oxygen because the data for neurological repair using hyperbaric oxygen is tremendously strong incorporating both recent and older data indicating benefits up to 10 years after the injury.

  • Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): For individuals dealing with long-term post-concussion syndrome, hyperbaric treatments serve as an effective metabolic intervention. It addresses persistent neuroinflammation and activates cellular repair pathways that standard rest or oral supplements cannot reach.

Concussion and traumatic brain injury is in our opinion one of the best responding issues that cell number response to other therapies. We have seen tremendous responses in our Edmonton patients dealing with concussion and brain injury using our medical grade hyperbaric chambers.

  •
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) & Neurodegenerative Management: In naturopathic MS care, hyperbaric sessions are seamlessly integrated with deep functional medicine tracking—including evaluating gut barrier integrity, heavy metal status, and chronic latent infections—to help stabilize progressive neurodegenerative symptoms and reduce systemic fatigue.

Multiple sclerosis has a long history of using hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat this challenging issue. Using it to improve bladder health and our Edmonton MS patients is one of the top indications for hyperbaric chamber use.

Addressing the Complexity of Long COVID

A vital area of focus for modern patients seeking hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton involves managing the long-term, multi-system depletion associated with Long COVID.

Emerging data connects Long COVID to microvascular damage, chronic cellular oxygen depletion (hypoxia), and persistent immune overactivation. Hyperbaric therapy helps break this debilitating cycle by lowering major pro-inflammatory signaling proteins (such as IL-1, IL-6, and TNF-α) while forcing oxygen into oxygen-starved tissues to alleviate chronic brain fog, muscle pain, and severe fatigue.

What we have seen in our Edmonton patients with long covid mirrors the published data using hyperbaric chambers - improvements in energy brain fog and respiratory health are common things that we have seen using our hospital grade Chambers.

Autoimmune Conditions and Chronic Infections

The systemic anti-inflammatory actions of HBOT are widely utilized across a variety of autoimmune presentations. Hyperbaric pressures downregulate dominant inflammatory pathways (including PGE2 and COX-2 expressions) while simultaneously increasing vital tissue-repair factors.

Furthermore, inside specialized hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton, the oxygen-rich environment is directly toxic to anaerobic bacteria (organisms that can only survive without oxygen, such as certain strains of Lyme disease Borrelia). At the same time, it enhances the ability of white blood cells to hunt down and eliminate pathogens.

Lyme disease is a very common indication for use of hyperbaric oxygen Chambers because of the Dual benefit of both antibacterial effect as well as a neurological repair effect. We have used hyperbaric chambers in our Lyme disease patients in Edmonton and the Edmonton area.

Integrative and Supportive Cancer Care

In oncology, hyperbaric oxygen is a well-established, primary medical standard for treating radionecrosis (tissue damage caused by radiation therapy). Beyond this indication, it is used as a supportive approach to counteract the Warburg Effect—the mechanism by which cancer cells shift away from normal oxygen-based energy production toward fermenting sugar.

Flooding the body with high concentrations of oxygen is utilized to disrupt tumor microenvironments and works synergistically with specialized, oxidative intravenous nutrient therapies.

Cancer is an emerging use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy - we often integrate hyperbaric chambers in our Edmonton cancer patients typically receiving IV therapy such as Ivy alpha lipoic acid for a metabolic cancer approach or intravenous vitamin C for an oxidative cancer approach.

3. The Power of Synergy: Combining HBOT with Advanced Intravenous (IV) Therapy

A major clinical advantage provided by the TruMed team is the deliberate pairing of hyperbaric protocols with advanced Intravenous (IV) Therapy.

While standard oral vitamins are helpful, they are constrained by the physical limits of the gastrointestinal tract. Intestinal absorption thresholds strictly limit the amount of a nutrient that can actually enter the bloodstream, and high oral doses often cause digestive upset.

IV therapy circumvents the digestive system entirely, ensuring 100% bioavailability and achieving highly effective blood and cellular nutrient concentrations that oral supplements simply cannot match.

Targeted IV Protocols Used alongside Hyperbaric Dives

IV Therapy Ingredient Main Mechanism of Action Hyperbaric Integration Strategy
NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) Reboots mitochondrial health, enhances ATP (cellular energy) production, and repairs cellular DNA. While NAD+ restores the cells' metabolic machinery, HBOT ensures a plentiful supply of pure oxygen to maximize energy output and reverse chronic fatigue.
High-Dose Vitamin C Acts as a potent systemic antioxidant at lower doses and a targeted pro-oxidant at high doses. The oxygen-rich baseline established during a hyperbaric dive amplifies the oxidative and immune-supportive impact of High-Dose Vitamin C.
Intravenous Iron Infusions Rapidly replenishes low ferritin and serum iron levels to support hemoglobin production. Without sufficient iron, the blood's capacity to transport oxygen is heavily compromised. If deficiency is found, IV iron quickly rebuilds blood stores, ensuring optimal oxygen delivery.
Glutathione & Myers’ Cocktails Delivers rapid cellular detoxification, neutralizes free radicals, and replenishes essential B vitamins. Protects healthy cells from oxidative stress while providing the underlying nutritional components needed for tissue repair.

4. The Patient Experience: What to Expect inside Medical-Grade Hyperbaric Chambers in Edmonton

For those considering exploring hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton, understanding the clinical process helps ensure a comfortable and reassuring experience.

Clinical Workflow and Custom Treatment Planning

  1. Comprehensive Initial Evaluation: Every patient undergoes a thorough medical assessment with an experienced Naturopathic Doctor or clinical practitioner. This evaluation defines exact clinical goals, identifies any potential contraindications, and creates a tailored care plan.

  2. Structured Treatment Scheduling: Hyperbaric protocols are fully customized based on the severity of the condition. A standard session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, typically scheduled once per day, five days a week (Monday through Friday). While acute tissue injuries might require only a short course, chronic systemic conditions or neurological recovery paths often require a foundational series of 20 to 40 sessions to achieve permanent capillary growth and tissue remodeling.

  3. Ongoing Progress Tracking: Clinical staff monitor treatment efficacy and patient comfort every 2 to 4 weeks, adjusting pressure depth (ATA) and matching IV therapy combinations to keep pace with the body's healing.

Sensation, Comfort, and Chamber Safety

The advanced, clear-walled monoplace chambers utilized by the clinic are designed to prioritize patient safety and comfort. Because hyper-pressurization is a physical process, the primary sensation patients notice is a feeling of fullness or "popping" in the ears during the first 10 to 15 minutes of the dive—very similar to the sensation of changing altitude in an airplane or driving through the mountains.

The clinical team provides clear guidance on simple pressure equalization techniques (such as yawning, swallowing, or gentle blowing) to ensure a smooth and relaxing treatment. Once the target pressure is reached, patients can lie back comfortably, rest, listen to audio, or watch media on external monitors for the remainder of their session.

Inability to equalize pressure in a hyperbaric chamber is the most common side effect that we have seen in our Edmonton patients using our facility.

Summary of the Integrative Health Approach

By combining the physical principles of atmospheric pressurization with the direct cellular support of advanced IV nutrient therapies, the functional medicine framework at TruMed addresses chronic health issues right at their source.

For patients looking for advanced hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton or searching for evidence-based hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton, this unified approach provides a powerful toolset designed to reduce systemic inflammation, accelerate tissue repair, and support long-term cellular recovery.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Stroke, Concussion, and TBI in Edmonton

Advanced Clinical Brain Recovery Protocols & Functional Neuro-Regeneration

When individuals or families navigate the aftermath of a stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or chronic post-concussion syndrome, standard medical rehabilitation options often feel limited. Emerging neurosurgical and naturopathic medical literature heavily highlights a foundational truth: damaged brain tissue requires an immense amount of metabolic energy to heal.

For individuals seeking specialized neurological rehabilitation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton offers a clinically proven pathway to wake up dormant brain tissue, bypass injured blood vessels, and stimulate long-term neuroplasticity. By utilizing medical-grade hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton, patients at clinical centers like TruMed can access highly targeted atmospheric pressures designed to reverse chronic brain hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) and accelerate cognitive recovery.

1. The Neurobiological Imperative: Why the Brain Demands Hyperbaric Pressurization

The central nervous system operates under incredibly strict metabolic conditions. While the human brain represents less than 2% of total body mass, it consumes more than 20% of the body's total oxygen and glucose. When a brain injury occurs—whether via physical impact (concussion/TBI) or interrupted blood flow (ischemic stroke)—the local supply of oxygen drops instantly.

The Problem with Normal Respiration

Under normal room pressure (1 ATA), breathing regular air or even pure mask oxygen cannot deliver enough healing fuel to a damaged brain. This is because oxygen transport is physically bottlenecked by the limited carrying capacity of hemoglobin in your red blood cells.

Furthermore, damaged brain tissue is almost always surrounded by severe swelling (edema) and broken micro-capillaries. These physical barriers block red blood cells from squeezing through, leaving the surrounding neurons in a state of perpetual hibernation.

The Hyperbaric Solution for Neuro-Recovery

By placing a patient inside advanced hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton and raising the pressure profile to specific therapeutic depths (typically 1.5 ATA to 2.0 ATA), the liquid physics of the body change.

High pressure forces oxygen to dissolve directly into the blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and extracellular fluids. Because these fluids flow freely through spaces where red blood cells cannot fit, hyperbaric therapy delivers a massive wave of oxygen straight to the injured nervous system. This direct flooding triggers several critical cellular mechanisms:

  • Reversing Mitochondrial Hibernation: Neurons that are damaged but not yet dead drop into a low-energy survival state. Flooding them with dissolved oxygen restores mitochondrial ATP (energy) production, giving the cells the fuel they need to begin repairing their structures and resuming electrical communication.

  • Rapid Reduction of Neuroinflammation & Swelling: High-pressure oxygen naturally constricts dilated blood vessels in a controlled manner. This drastically reduces fluid leakage and swelling inside the skull, lowering intracranial pressure while simultaneously increasing actual tissue oxygen delivery.

  • Upregulating Neuroplasticity and Synaptogenesis: True long-term cognitive recovery requires the brain to rewrite its networks. The hyperbaric environment activates the genetic pathways needed to sprout brand-new neural connections (synaptogenesis), helping healthy areas of the brain step in and take over functions lost to injury.

2. Stroke Rehabilitation: Reviving the Ischemic Penumbra

A stroke splits the affected region of the brain into two primary zones: the necrotic core (cells that have died due to a total lack of blood supply) and the ischemic penumbra (a surrounding band of deeply shocked, oxygen-starved cells).

[Ischemic Event / Stroke]

[Floods Plasma & CSF with Oxygen] ➔ [Revives Penumbra Neurons] ➔ [Restores Loss of Function]

The primary goal of utilizing hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton for post-stroke recovery is to target and save this ischemic penumbra. Because these penumbral cells are structurally intact but lack the energy to fire, they can sit dormant for months or even years.

Clinical Evidence and Outcomes

When patients undergo structured treatment blocks inside specialized hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton, the consistent influx of highly oxygenated plasma revives these stunning neurons. Landmark clinical trials using advanced neuroimaging (such as SPECT scans) have demonstrated that even years after a stroke, hyperbaric protocols can spark significant metabolic activity in previously dark areas of the brain. Patients frequently report measurable progress in:

  • Motor Function and Fine Control: Reduction of spasticity, improved gait stability, and a return of coordination in affected limbs.

  • Speech and Language Processing: Significant improvements in expressive and receptive aphasia.

  • Executive Cognitive Function: Sharper memory retention, quicker mental processing speeds, and extended focus times.

3. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) & Concussion Recovery

Concussions and TBIs are no longer viewed as simple temporary bruises to the brain. Modern neuro-science categorizes chronic post-concussion syndrome as a state of ongoing, low-grade neuroinflammation, metabolic crisis, and microscopic structural shearing.

Breaking the Post-Concussion Cycle

Following an impact, the brain's demand for energy spikes dramatically to fuel repair efforts, yet its actual blood supply drops due to microvascular damage. This creates a severe energy mismatch. Patients feel this imbalance as chronic brain fog, light sensitivity, migraines, insomnia, and mood swings.

                                                                                                                   ▼
[Targeted 1.5 - 2.0 ATA Dive Protocols] ◄──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

By entering a clinical-grade hyperbaric environment, patients can systematically reverse this underlying tissue hypoxia. The intense oxygen gradient delivered inside hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton acts as a powerful signal to the body's healing mechanisms:

    • Permanent Capillary Growth (Angiogenesis): Repeated hyperbaric sessions (typically 20 to 40 dives) trigger the continuous release of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). This forces the brain to sprout an entirely new network of micro-blood vessels directly into the sheared, damaged zones, permanently restoring healthy blood flow.

    • Halting the Inflammatory Cascade: HBOT actively turns down the genetic switches responsible for keeping microglia (the brain's immune cells) in a hyper-destructive, pro-inflammatory state, effectively calming down chronic neuroinflammation.

4. The Advanced TruMed Integration Protocol: Maximize Your Neuro-Recovery

What sets the neuro-rehabilitation framework apart when looking into hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Edmonton via TruMed is the precise use of target-driven functional medicine alongside chamber dives. To rebuild a brain, your body needs both the operational energy (oxygen) and the raw building blocks (nutrients).

Synergistic Neurological Drips

To maximize the brain-building benefits of your hyperbaric sessions, protocols are frequently combined with targeted Intravenous (IV) Therapy to deliver nutrients directly past the blood-brain barrier:

  • IV NAD+ Therapy: NAD+ is the absolute foundational coenzyme required by cellular mitochondria to produce ATP. Combining IV NAD+ with hyperbaric sessions provides an unparalleled double-boost to cellular energy, giving injured brain cells a massive leg up in rebuilding torn structures.

  • Neurological Antioxidant Support: Customized IV infusions containing high doses of glutathione, alpha-lipoic acid, and specialized mineral complexes are used to mop up free radicals, protect newly activated neurons from oxidative stress, and assist in deep cellular detoxification.

  • Targeted Cellular Nutrition: Ensuring optimal systemic levels of active B-vitamins, magnesium, and trace amino acids provides the precise raw materials required for neuroplasticity and the creation of new cellular membranes.

5. Structuring a Neurological Hyperbaric Regimen in Edmonton

Neurological tissue heals at a slower rate than skin or muscle tissue, meaning that successful neuro-recovery requires a highly structured, consistent, and strategic approach.

What to Expect Across the Protocol

  • The Initial Neuro-Assessment: Your journey begins with a complete functional review to map out your specific cognitive and physical challenges, rule out any rare contraindications, and establish your target depth parameters.

  • The "Block" Treatment Strategy: For chronic post-concussion syndrome, minor TBI, or older stroke injuries, protocols are structured around a compact block of 20 to 40 sessions. These are ideally scheduled 5 days a week (60 to 90 minutes per session). This strict, frequent schedule is necessary to constantly stimulate the genetic pathways that control stem cell release and new blood vessel growth.

  • In-Chamber Experience: Patients rest comfortably inside an advanced monoplace chamber, where they can easily relax, read, or watch screen media. The environment is entirely climate-controlled, safe, and continuously monitored by trained clinical professionals to ensure total peace of mind.

If you or a loved one are ready to explore how advanced medical-grade hyperbaric chambers in Edmonton can transform your neurological recovery process, reaching out for a targeted clinical consultation is the next step toward true neurological repair.
